"familiar" book box

The process:

Every book box begins with a previously loved book and unfolds over the course of a week. I carve out the pages by hand, 10 at a time, then seal them with layers of Mod Podge and let everything rest for 2 days. The collage work is where the real conversation happens. I move through vintage books and magazines, pulling imagery that speaks to me, laying pieces out and shifting them around until the story reveals itself. Sometimes a project sits unfinished because I haven't found the right piece yet, or because the story needs time to evolve. When everything finally comes together, I seal it all down with protective layers and leave it open to breathe and dry for another 2-3 days.

Ideas for use:

This is a home for the things you want close but protected. Jewelry, folded cash, love notes, photographs, keepsakes, spare keys, small reminders of people and moments that shaped you. Keep it on a bookshelf, your nightstand, or a coffee table where it lives quietly among other books, holding your treasures in plain sight.

When I share this, I am closing the book on that part of my life. I am carving it out, rewriting it, & turning the pages into something new. I do not forget what is there.. & I do not discard it. I repurpose every word, every memory, every fragment into meaning, healing, and intention. This is why these pages hold so much value to me. I thank you for your time.
